WEEKEND FOOD SACKS

Operation Backpack is a weekend feeding program working to alleviate childhood hunger in Topeka and to encourage children in need.  To ensure the nutritional needs of children are met when school is not in session, the program provides a small sack of food for youth to take home for the weekend.  Each Weekend Food Sack contains a two day supply of nutritional, kid-friendly snacks and single serving size food items that are easy for youth to prepare.

Topeka North Outreach volunteers will discreetly distribute Operation Backpack Weekend Food Sacks to eligible children in grade K - 12 at school each Friday.

Pick up Sites are:  All Schools in the North Topeka & Oakland area.

Eligibility will be determined based on family need and availability of program funds.  PRIORITY DETERMINATION WILL BE GIVEN TO: single working parents, foster/adoptive parents, grandparent parents, and disabled parents.
