YOUTH MINISTRY

The Topeka North Outreach (TNO) Youth Ministry provides vital services for children in our community. We reach out by meeting basic needs, ie food, hygiene, clothing, & school supplies. We then work to build a relationship with the child to teach them of their true worth and value by mentoring, tutoring and discipling them.

We serve children who live in the Oakland, North Topeka and surrounding areas who come from Low Income, Working Parent, Single Parent, Foster / Adoptive Parent, Grandparent Parent, and / or Disabled Parent Homes.

TNO's Youth Ministry shares the love of God and encouragement in the following ways:

OPERATION BACKPACK: Works to alleviate childhood hunger by providing Weekend Food Sacks filled with nutritious, kid-friendly food items that are easy for youth to prepare. Sacks are sent home with school children on Fridays, and the day before a Holiday to ensure they have food EVERY day of the week. Our summer program distributes food sacks at several pick-up sites.

OPERATION BACPACK ASSEMBLY: ALLEVIATING CHILDHOOD HUNGER IN TOPEKA! Come help us fill sacks with food to share with the needy in our community. We meet monthly for Operation Backpack Assembly on the 1st Thursday of every month.

Each month we prepare 3,300 - 4,000 Operation Backpack Weekend Food Sacks to share with students in North Topeka and Oakland area schools to ensure they have food over the weekend when school provided meals may not be available.

This is a multi generational service opportunity. We accept volunteers age 7 and up with an adult.(Masks are recommended as distancing is not possible.)

Donations of individual-wrapped, shelf stable, single serving size food items are appreciated as well as financial contributions to continue this work. See bottom of page for "Wish List"

J.A.M. "Jesus and Me" after school club : Works directly with children to provide after school and summertime activities. Shares bible stories, crafts, music, games & snacks.

HYGIENE MINISTRY: We distribute hygiene kits to area children and schools in an effort to motivate personal body care.

SCHOOL SUPPLY GIVEAWAY: Book bags and school supplies are given away at the start of the new school year.
